Accra: Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former vice president of Ghana, on Friday visited the families of the late Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment Science and Technology, and Alhaji Muniru Limuna, Deputy National Security Coordinator.

The two Muslim political appointees were among the eight victims who passed away in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, while performing a national duty.

The vice president was accompanied by Alhaji Mohammed Amin Adam, former finance minister; Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, former information minister; and Dominic Ntiwul, former defence minister.

In his remarks at the residence of the late Dr Murtala, Dr Bawumia said that death was inevitable; hence, the need for Muslims to always be prepared for it.

Despite the deceased being on the other side of the political divide, he said they remained brothers who respected each other.

He prayed for the deceased and asked Allah to give the family needed strength to go through the difficult times.

He urged them to be prayerful, as that was what the deceased needed the most.

He signed a book of condolence before heading to the residence of the late deputy national security coordinator.
