How Nigeria’s top Islamic clerics reacted to passing of Dr Idris Abdulaziz

Bauchi: Prominent personalities including Muslim clerics in Nigeria have expressed sadness over the passing of Bauchi-based Muslim cleric, Dr Idris Abdulaziz Dutsen Tanshi, who died on Thursday at the age of 64 years.
Some clerics took to their social media platforms to mourn and express their condolences to the family of the late scholar known for his strong stance on Islamic monotheism.
“Death is the shirt for everyone,” said President Sheikh Dr Imam Abdullahi Bala Lau, who delivered a message on behalf of the Ahlussunnah Izala group.
He extended his condolences to the family and members of the Ahlussunnah of Bauchi State.
Prof Mansur Issah Yelwa, a Muslim scholar, also wrote, “when our end comes, may we die with faith.”
He added that “We are praying that God forgives Dr Idris Abdul’Azeez, who died last night… May Allah the Most Merciful make paradise his final abode.”
Muhammad Kabir Haruna, also known as Kabiru Gombe, also asked for Allah’s mercy on the late Dr Idris Abdul Aziz Dutsen Tanshi.
“May Allah lighten his grave and forgive his shortcomings,” he said.
Prof. Muhammad Sani Umar Lemo also asked Allah for the ability of inheritors and caretakers to take good care of what the late scholar left behind.
Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa also wrote, “O Allah, reward us in our calamity and leave us with something better than it.”
“To Allah belongs what He has taken, and to Him what He has given, and to Him everything is for a designated purpose,” he added.
Dr Bashiru Aliyu Umar also prayed to Allah to reward the late scholar for all his good deeds with paradise.
Prof Isa Ali Pantami also expressed condolences to the family and prayed for a good ending for all Muslims.
A massive Muslim crowd attended the Janazah of the late scholar, which took place on Friday at 10 am at the Eid Games Village mosque, Bauchi.
Dr Idris had been battling a prolonged illness which led him to seek medical treatment abroad during the month of Ramadan.
Over the last two years he faced religious and political persecutions which at some point led him to flee into exile.
