Mawlid 2025: Chief Imam to celebrate birth of Holy Prophet on September 20

Accra: Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam of Ghana, will celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammed on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
The Mawlid Nabi will be held at the Sharubutu Astro Turf Park at New Fadama in Accra.
Like previous years, the event is expected to attract local and international dignitaries from all fields of endeavour.
These include political figures, Muslim scholars, diplomatic corps, traditional rulers, entrepreneurs and celebrities, among others.
Precursor activities to mark the occasion include a health walk, a football tournament and a wrestling competition.
A large number of Muslim youth turned up to participate in the health walk that was held on Sunday.
The walk was on the theme “A united Zongo against illicit drugs”.
They embarked on about a seven-kilometre trek from the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange to the private residence of the National Chief Imam at New Fadama.
Also, a wrestling competition will be held on Thursday at the New Fadama lorry station.
The occasion over the years has served as a moment of reflection on the life of the holy Prophet Muhammed and a platform to discuss national issues relevant to the Ghanaian Muslim community.
