Accra – The Grand Mufti of the Zimbabwean Muslim community,Ismail ibn Musa Menk is in Ghana and will be expected to lead Jummah prayers at the Ghana National Mosque, Kanda, in Accra on Friday.

Leading the prayers and interacting with renowned Muslim personalities in the country formed part of his itinerary for his fifth public visit to the country.

The Islamic scholar is in Ghana for the maiden edition of the Peace and Unity Convention, which will be taking place over the weekend at the Accra International Conference Centre on July 22 and July 23, respectively.

Other key speakers for the event include Sheikh Nurudeen Lemu, a Nigerian scholar and the co-founder of the Inter-Faith Activity and Partnership for Peace (IFAPP), and Professor Naail Muhammed Kamil Dangigala, Head of the Department of Human Resource and Organisational Development at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

The rest are Ustadh Wael Ibrahim, a student counsellor at the Australian Islamic College, and Sheikh Muhammad Salah, the “Religious Adviser” of Huda Satellite TV.

Early on, Mufti had visited the country in 2017 to deliver lectures on the theme “Points to Ponder” at the Forecourt of State House in Accra on July 21; Kumasi Central Mosque on July 22; and in Tamale at the Jubilee Park on July 23.

During his first visit in October 2016, the scholar was overwhelmed with the reception he received at the Accra International Conference Centre, where a mammoth crowd overfilled the venue to his amazement.

The lecture, which took place on October 14, had to be eventually cancelled as the venue could not hold the thousands who thronged the venue to catch a glimpse of the well-televised and popular preacher.

With a strong social media presence, he engages in humanitarian and educational activities in Zimbabwe and lectures internationally to inspire people to do good and shun evil.
