Accra- The Muslimah Mentorship Network, a Muslim women’s group has launched its maiden mentorship programme aimed at guiding and supporting young Muslim girls in their quest to become better individuals and citizens.

The event held in Accra consisted of a presentation and a mentorship session that engaged girls from Accra-based, Al- Huda Islamic School and Markaaz Ansaarudeen.

Students were engaged in the need to stay focused on education for a better future.

A member of the group, Mrs Khadija Abdul Samed addressed students on the topic “The importance of Islam and Western Education”.

She encouraged Muslim students to remain committed to seeking knowledge that would liberate them.

She noted that the tenets of Islam were based on the acquisition of knowledge which served as a guide to living the Muslim life.
“Merging your Islamic education with the Western one will help you make the right decisions in life”, she added.

A teacher of Maarkaz Ansaarudeen, Mallam Mohammed Abdallah for his part commended the initiative and reiterated the need for Muslim girl students to take their secular and Islamic education seriously.

“Not everyone gets the opportunity like this. Make intentions to fulfil your dreams and do well to combine both Western and Islamic Knowledge”, he said.

The Muslimah Mentorship Network is made up of young Muslim women who are working together to mentor girls and other young women in various communities.
