Accra: Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, has organised a special adua (prayer) session to commemorate the 40-day passing of his late wife, Hajia Rahmatu Tahwee.

The solemn event held on Sunday was climaxed with the complete recitation of the holy Quran, followed by a prayer session for the deceased and the country.

The event was graced by key political and religious personalities from Ghana and neighbouring countries such as Nigeria and Togo.

Among the dignitaries present were the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who was accompanied by Henry Quartey, the Minister of Interior, and the Zongo Development Coordinator, Ben Abdallah Banda.

Also present was Haruna Iddrisu, a former Minister of Communication and currently the member of Parliament for Tamale South Constituency, who represented the former President John Dramani Mahama.

The second wife of the National Chief Imam died on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, during the holy month of Ramadan and was buried the same day at the Awudome Cemetery in Accra.

Since then, the National Chief Imam has been receiving guests and messages of condolence from individuals and organisations who express their support for the Imam and his family during this difficult moment.
