Kumasi: Dr Muhammad Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has pledged GHS50,000 for the construction of a dormitory for students of Tijaniyya Senior High School located at Asokore Effiduase.

The traditional ruler made the pledge during the fundraising session at the 58th Annual Ashanti Regional Maulid celebration held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, under the leadership of Maulana Zaeem Sheikh Abdul Wadud Haruna Ciessey.

He arrived in the country on Thursday and has paid a courtesy call on the president, John Mahama, National Chief Imam, Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

It would be recalled that the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Ghana recently constructed and handed over four key facilities to Tijaniyya Senior High School, addressing critical infrastructure gaps at the public institution in the Ashanti region.

The facilities include a four-unit classroom block, a mechanised borehole, a washroom facility and a masjid (mosque).

The school has for the past decade been struggling with infrastructure needs despite being adopted by the state.

Aside from the dormitory, the school has needs for other facilities such as a science laboratory, ICT infrastructure and a library.

The school was established on July 29, 2009, by the Tijaniyya Muslim Movement of Ghana as part of the organisation’s social responsibilities to complement the efforts of the government.

The President of the Movement, Sheikh Abdul Wadud Haroun, initiated the project with a 35-plot land donation to the organisation.
