Accra – The yet-to-be-completed sports complex located at the New Fadama Cluster of schools would be renamed after the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu.

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr Alhaji Mahmud Bawumia gave the announcement over the weekend when he addressed the public at the Maulid of the Holy Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) which was held at New Fadama in Accra.

He also extolled the qualities of the chief imam by describing him as a God-sent person that Muslims should appreciate.

“Mallam is God sent not only to the Muslim Ummah but the whole of Ghana. He is an astute teacher, a peaceful man, a humble man, a philanthropist and a unifier” he said.

The event which was hosted by the National Chief Imam had huge patronage from thousands of Muslims in the country.

Also in attendance were diplomats, traditional authorities, religious scholars and politicians.

The Chief Imam made a symbolic gesture of decorating Dr Bawumia with regalia for his commitment to Islam.

He urged Muslims to be thankful to Allah for the peace and blessings he has given them.
