Families of late Murtala and Limuna receive helicopter crash compensation package
Accra: Families of the late Mohammed Murtala Ibrahim and Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, the two Muslims among eight to perish in a helicopter crash in August last year, have received compensation package from the government.
The two families were among the eight families formally presented with the package by President John Mahama at the Jubilee House in Accra on Thursday.
The package for the eight families included statutory compensation totalling GHS 13,872,962.40 for civilian dependants in line with the Workmen’s Compensation Act alongside full compensation for the Ghana Air Force officers per military regulations.
Also, 19 individual educational accounts of GHS 1 million each have been set up at Stanbic Bank for the children of the deceased men. The accounts consist of 13 trust funds for minors and six fixed deposits for adults.
The package also included a Premier Nationwide Health Insurance valued at GHS 3 million annually for each dependant, granting them access to nearly 1,000 top healthcare facilities across Ghana.
The president also presented personalised legacy boxes containing investment certificates, commemorative medallions, and personal letters from me to each child, assuring them of Ghana’s eternal gratitude.
