Accra: The leadership of the Muslim sect, Ahlussunna Wal-Jama’a (ASWAJ), has directed all its regional and district Imams to arrange and observe Eid ul Fitr prayers on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

According to the sect, the directive follows the sighting of the crescent (moon) for Shawwal 2025/1446H by the Moon Sighting Committee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a press statement, the leadership of the sect said it would observe Eid prayers at the forecourt of the state house on the said date at 9 am.

“ASWAJ, once again, wishes all Muslims across the country Eid-ul Mubarak,” read the statement signed by the Sheikh Mohammed Zakaria Suleiman Addo, the Chairman of ASWAJ Hilal Committee.

In a related development, the Office of the National Chief Imam has, however, officially declared Monday, March 31, 2025, as the day for celebrating Eid ul Fitr in Ghana.

The office was unable to sight the Shawwal crescent locally, hence allowing Muslims to complete their 30-day Ramadan fast on Sunday.
