Muntaka, Pelpuo, and two other Muslim MPs get ministerial nominations
Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has nominated four Muslim members of parliament (MPs) as ministers of state.
They include Abdul Rashid Pelpou, the MP for Wa Central, designate for the Ministry of Labour, Jobs, and Employment; Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, MP for Asawase, nominated for the Ministry of Interior; and Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, MP for Tamale Central, designate for Ministry of Environment Science and Technology.
Other nominee was the MP for Nalerigu constituency, Issifu Seidu, a designate for the Minister of State, Climate Change and Sustainability.
President Mahama has so far nominated six Muslim MPs for ministerial roles.
On Thursday, January 16, 2025, he nominated Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, and Ahmed Ibrahim, MP for Banda.
The two are respectively heading to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs.
