Accra: Two ministers of state involved in a road accident, Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, and Mohammed Adams Sukparu, the Deputy Minister for Communications and Digital Technology, have been airlifted to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

This was to allow for better treatment and a full recovery for the two ministers, who were reported to be in stable condition after the incident that occurred on the Bolgatanga-Tumu Road on Thursday.

The Parliament of Ghana made this known after the Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, together with leaders from both sides of the House and some Members of Parliament, visited them at the hospital to express solidarity and support on behalf of the entire House.

“Parliament commiserates with the two Honourable Ministers and expresses its sincere sympathy following this distressing incident. The House acknowledges the shock the news may have caused to their families, constituents, and the public,” the House stated in a statement.

The house also assured the public that there was no cause for alarm as the two continued to receive the necessary medical care.

The two ministers, who are also members of the Muslim caucus of parliament, were en route to the commemoration of the 40th Anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education in the Upper West Region.

Haruna Iddrisu is the MP for Tamale South, and Mohammed Adams Sukparu is the MP for the Sissala West constituency.
