Ramadan 2026: GCB Bank donates to Muslims in Northern, Savannah regions

Accra: GCB Bank PLC, a leading indigenous bank, has extended Ramadan support to Muslim communities in Tamale, Yendi, Mion, and Damango in the Northern and Savannah regions.
It donated cash and essential food items, such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, and other beverages, to support Iftar (breaking the daily fast) and other religious activities in mosques.
The gesture was in line with a longstanding commitment to promoting community development, national cohesion, and shared prosperity.
Beneficiary mosques included the Tamale Central Mosque, Ambariyya Mosque, Sheikh Lucman Bamba Mosque, and Sheikh Abu Dijaana Mosque.
Management of the bank climaxed the outreach with a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, at his residence in Fadama, Accra, where it donated food items for the less privileged as well.
This was to reflect the bank’s enduring relationship with the Ghanaian Muslim community and its continued respect for spiritual leadership in Ghana.

The bank’s delegation was led by the Managing Director, Mr Farihan Alhassan, who was accompanied by members of the Executive Management Committee and some staff.
The delegation also sought prayers and guidance for the Bank and the nation during the sacred month.

Speaking during his engagement, the Managing Director highlighted that GCB Bank’s Ramadan support is not a one-off gesture but part of a longstanding tradition of standing with communities during significant religious and cultural moments.
He noted that the initiative reflects the Bank’s belief in unity, renewal, and peaceful coexistence, essential values that find expression in the significance of Ramadan and the broader social fabric of the country.
In response, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu expressed heartfelt appreciation for the bank’s continued support, acknowledging the positive impact such contributions have on mosque leaders and vulnerable members of the community.
He offered prayers for the sustained growth and wisdom of the bank’s board, management, and staff, asking for continued prosperity and impact.
Similarly, the Northern Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Ahmed Abdul-Salam, commended the bank’s outreach across the region, noting that the donations would significantly support community coordination and welfare efforts during Ramadan.
