The founder of the Darul Ahkaam li Nisai, a centre dedicated to enlightening Muslim women about Islam received the award last Thursday at the University’s graduation ceremony for the 2022/2023 academic year.

In all, 264 students from 44 countries graduated from five faculties that included the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies, the Faculty of Literature and Humanities, the Faculty of Economics and Administration, the Faculty of Communication, and the Faculty of Holy Quran.

Mallama Jami as she is affectionately called by her students got a scholarship to study Sharia at the University in Sharjah of the United Arab Emirates in 2015 and graduated in 2018.

In her remarks, she thanked the University for the personal development which has empowered her to help other women understand Islam better.

She said: “I had weakness and timidity in my personality, with limited knowledge and understanding. But when I arrived at the university, I became a wholly new person with the help of all those who taught me.

“And it is in this University of Qasimiya that I built my personality. A personality founded on guidance, vision, knowledge, and uprightness,” she said.

She managed to creditably teach students at the Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) level in English upon her return to the country for her National Service despite not having any form of secular education.
