Zongo Development Coordinator heads reconstituted hajj board

Accra- The President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo, has appointed former Member of Parliament for Offinso South, Alhaji Ben Abdallah Banda to be the Chairman of the reconstituted Hajj Board.

He takes over from the former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Sheikh Ibrahim Cudjoe Quaye who has been the Chairman of the Board since 2017.

The former MP, currently the Coordinator for Zongo Development under the Office of the President was appointed together with Habib Iddrisu – Deputy Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Tolon Constituency.

Other newly appointed members of the 12-member board included Hajia Safia Mohammed, Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Chief Saddique Jimala III, Acting Chairman of the National Council of Zango Chiefs.

The rest were Hajia Azara Haroun, Chief Executive Officer of the Zakat and Sadaqa Trust Fund and  Alhaji Musah Akambonga, Ashanti Regional President of the Council of Zango Chiefs and Chief of the Frafra Community in Kumasi.

Members retained from the previous board included Sheikh Amin Bonsu, the National Chairman of the Ghana Muslim Mission; Alhaji Inusah Amadau, a Hajj Agent and an immediate past contender for the NPP North Regional Chairman and Alhaji Osumanu Yunusah, Advisor at the Office of the Vice President.

The remaining members were Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed, Cleric, Academician and Head of the Dawah committee of the Board; Dr Seidu Zakaria, Director of the Ghana Hajj medical team and Abdul Rahman Alhassan Gomda, Veteran journalist and News Editor at the Daily Guide Newspaper.

The president also appointed four persons to constitute the Hajj Secretariat.

They included Alhaji Farouk Hamza as Executive Secretary and Ibrahim Adjei, Ahmed Abu, and Ahmed Tijani as members.
