Accra- Hajj Watch (HW), a civil society group has called for the removal of Abdul Rahman Alhassan Gomda, Head of Communications and Abdul Malik Adams Gariba, Secretary of the Ghana Hajj Board.

According to the group, the dismissal of these personalities would bring sanity to the operations of the board for a successful hajj this year.

In a press statement signed by the president of the Group, Alhaji Musah Abubakar, the group said gross misconduct and insubordination had contributed to challenges encountered by the board during last year’s hajj.

“The call has become necessary in view of the observation that the problems the board encountered last year largely depends on the lack of effective coordination and respect for authority” the statement read.

They also alleged that Mr Gomda and Mr Adams have undermined the authority of the Chairman, Sheikh Ibrahim Cudjoe Quaye through negative reportage.

“Another case in point is the negative press reportage which turned out to be the work of insiders to discredit the chairman Sheikh I. C. Quaye and thereby ridicule him in the eyes of the public.

“Hajj Watch is reliably informed that the head of communications surprisingly owned up to these nefarious activities. Hajj Watch believes that he is not alone in this ‘Eliminate I.C Quaye at all cost” campaign. But they failed and woefully so.

“They cannot continue to pretend to work in the interest of all and under one leadership. They have lost trust and faith reposed in them by the president and his vice” the statement said.
