Chief Imam calls on former President Akufo-Addo

Accra: Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, the national chief Imam has paid a courtesy call on former president, Nana Akufo-Addo at his Labone office in Accra on Thursday.
The visit was in affirmation of an existing cordial relationship between the two influential figures, which predated the tenure of the former president.
In a Facebook post, the president said the national chief imam has remained supportive of him and his family during his tenure as president of the republic.
“Over the year’s, the Chief Imam has remained a strong symbol of peace, unity and inter-religious tolerance in Ghana,” he said.
The president said he expressed his gratitude to the Ghanaian Muslim leader for being prayerful and thoughtful about the former president.
“Ghana will continue to remain grateful for his significant role in writing parts of the beautiful chapters of our history,” the president wrote on his Facebook page.
Also present at the meeting were some political figures who served in the erstwhile New Patriotic Party-led government.
They included Fatima Abubakar, a former minister of information; Ben Abdallah Banda, a Zongo Development Coordinator and former Hajj Board chairman; and Frema Opare, a former Chief of Staff.
