Asokore Effiduase: The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Ghana has constructed and handed over four key facilities to Tijjaniyya Senior High School, addressing critical infrastructure gaps at the public institution in the Ashanti region.

The facilities include a four-unit classroom block, a mechanised borehole, a washroom facility and a masjid (mosque).

This initiative underscores the growing partnership between Ghana and Palestine in promoting education and community development.

At the handover ceremony, Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana Abdulfatah Ahmed Khalil Al Sattari expressed deep appreciation to Ghanaians for their continued support.

He recalled Ghana’s humanitarian gesture under President John Dramani Mahama, which included sending two containers of chocolate to Palestinians in Gaza.

“Ghana is my second country. I care about its people and will continue working with the government to ensure progress,” he said.

The school headmaster, Mubarak Ishak, described the intervention as timely, noting that infrastructure challenges have long hindered student enrolment.

“Each academic year, over a third of placed students seek admission elsewhere due to our limited facilities,” he said.

He appealed to the government for further support, listing urgent needs such as dormitories, staff bungalows, science labs, a school bus, a library, an administration block, and perimeter fencing.

Ishak also praised the Palestinian community’s compassion and expressed solidarity by saying that “We stand with the Palestinian people and pray for the realisation of a sovereign state.”

Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, MP for Asawase and project facilitator, reaffirmed his commitment to improving Islamic schools across the Ashanti Region.

He noted that GETFund has awarded contracts for infrastructure development in several schools within his constituency.

He also used the occasion to caution students against drug abuse: “You know deep down it’s wrong, but addiction makes it difficult to stop. Protect your future.”

Nana Ayew Afriyie, MP for Effiduase/Asokore, thanked the Palestinian community and commended Muntaka for prioritising the needs of Effiduase/Asokore over his own constituency.

He urged school authorities to maintain the new facilities to ensure long-term benefits for students and staff.
