Accra – Dutch football stars, Atletico Madrid’s Memphis Depay and AS Roma’s Georginio Wijnaldum, have paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu.

The pair, who have been on vacation in the country over the past two weeks, visited the cleric at his Fadama residence in Accra.

After a brief interaction, the Imam prayed for the footballers and their entourage.

Days earlier, the player was spotted at a Gym in Accra, where he engaged children with aspirations for boxing.

Depay, who has a Ghanaian parent has spent most of his vacations in Ghana over the past few years doing philanthropic work.

In June last year, the 29-year-old commissioned a facility for students at the School for the Deaf and Blind in Cape Coast of the Central Region.

He is expected to spend a few more days in Ghana before leaving for pre-season with Atletico Madrid in July.

Wijnaldum who has a Ghanaian Step Dad, on the other hand, is expected to go to Italy, where he will join his AS Roma side for preparations ahead of the new campaign.

The former Liverpool star couldn’t feature prominently for his club last season due to injuries.

He managed to make a recovery, however, before the season ended.
