Ghana’s deputy ambassador to Saudi Arabia laid to rest

Madinah: Sanni Jajah, Ghana’s deputy ambassador to Saudi Arabia who passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026 has been laid to rest in Madina, Saudi Arabia.
His Janazah (funeral prayer) was observed last Friday after Jummah prayers at the Masjid an-Nabawi (The Prophet’s Mosque) in the Holy City of Madina, Saudi Arabia.
The ceremony was witnessed by a Ghanaian delegation that included Yussif Jajah, a relative and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso North, Alhaji Abdul Karim Gruzah, Shaibu Mahama Obei, MP for Daboya, Hajia Hassana Jajah, widow of the late Alhaji Sani Jajah, Hajia Farida Jajah, Hajia Amina McNaza, and other family members.
In a Facebook post, the Yussif Jajah who is also the deputy minister of tourism, creative art and culture announced that the final funeral rites (Adua) will be performed for the deceased on the morning of Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Mamobi Marwako, Accra
“We welcome all friends, sympathizers, and the general public to join the family in this solemn prayer session,” he said
Since his demise, dignitaries mainly within the political aand religious circle have visited the family home of the late diplomat in Mamobi to pay their condolensces to the family. Key among them are the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu and President John Mahama.
The late diplomat was last seen on Friday, a day before he died, at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah welcoming Ghana’s team participating in the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’an Competition in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Jajah was appointed on September 11, 2025, alongside 17 others by President John Mahama as diplomats to serve in various countries.
