Interior minister calls for peaceful resolution to Ho Imam dispute

Accra: The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has called on the Muslim community in Ho, Volta Region, to exercise restraint and explore peaceful means to resolve disputes relating to the appointment of Imam for the Ho Central Mosque.
He assured that authorities would investigate the circumstances surrounding the closure of the Ho central mosque and provide a resolution to the matter.
The minister made the remarks when he met a delegation of chiefs, elders, and imams from the Ho Muslim Community in his office in Accra.
He emphasised that Islam is a peaceful religion and so urged all parties to prioritise peace and use appropriate channels to address their grievances.
The meeting was prompted by the closure of the Ho Central Mosque due to a dispute over the Imam’s appointment that led to violent clashes during a Jummah prayer session.
The head of the delegation, Mohammed Adams Ijor-nda, Wulensi Saha Naa I, thanked the minister for his dedication to peace.
The traditional ruler assured the minister that the community would not engage in actions that could jeopardise the country’s peace while awaiting a resolution from the authorities.
