Philadelphia, US: Sheikh Bashiru Yandu, one of Ghana’s finest Da’ee (Muslim preacher), has arrived in the United States of America for his annual Da’wah tour.

In the coming weeks, he is expected to visit local mosques and Islamic centres across the states to spread the message of Islam among mostly Hausa-speaking Muslims in the US.

When he arrived on Monday, he was welcomed by his son, Sheikh Dr Abdul Hamid Kishk Bashiru Yandu, an imam at Markazul Quran in Philadelphia.

The Sunni scholar will be in Philadelphia for the next seven days and will be delivering lectures and sermons at various masjids.

He is expected to visit other states afterwards.

With decades of experience in the profession of calling to Allah, Sheikh has been a strong advocate for monotheism in worship, maintaining kinship and being dutiful to parents.

His style of delivery, characterised by excellent narration skills, precision with the quotation of Qur’anic verses and eloquence in speech, has endeared him to many Hausa-speaking Muslims across sub-Saharan Africa.

He has successfully raised two sons who are budding Muslim scholars of a younger generation.

In January this year, Dr Abdul Hamid, son of Sheikh Bashir, elevated his scholarly status with the attainment of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Islamic law, ethics, and politics at the African Franco-Arab University in Niamey, Niger.

His research speciality was about the authentication of classical tafseer texts using hadith methodology.

The founder of Al-Islaah Centre, a policy think tank, successfully defended his thesis titled “The Marywiyat of Muhammed bin Kaab Al-Qurzi in the Tafseer of Imam Muhammad bin Jarir Al-Tabri.”

Dr Kishk had previously attained a bachelor’s degree in Islamic law from the Islamic University in Niger in 2017 before pursuing a master’s degree in Islamic law in 2019 at the same university.
