The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has named Barcelona footballer Abdul Aziz Issah as the Male Footballer of the Year.

The Muslim footballer was also named the prospect of the year at the 49th SWAG awards event held on Friday.

The former Dreams FC player was recognised for helping Ghana’s Under-20 team win gold at the 13th African Games and winning the golden boot at the CAF Confederations Cup.

Dreams FC announced the transfer of the Ghanaian football prodigy Abdul Aziz Issah to Spanish football giant Barcelona FC in September last year.

The deal was finalised on transfer deadline day, the Ghanaian club said via its X platform handle.

Issah, the 19-year-old winger, is an outstanding young African football talent, touted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as a top emerging player.

He performed creditably to score four goals and provide two assists in 10 matches, helping Dreams FC reach the semi-final stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

In the GPL, he contributed to 17 goals, scoring seven and assisting ten, showcasing his ability to both score and set up teammates to find the net.

During the FA Cup, he scored four goals in five games, proving his consistency across different competitions.

Issah’s journey with Dreams FC began at a young age, progressing through the club’s youth ranks and spending time at Still Believe and In God We Trust FC.
