Accra: After a month-long stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ghana’s Hajj pilgrims are expected to start returning home on June 20, 2025.

The Ghana Hajj Taskforce is making preparations for the safe return of some 5800 pilgrims who embarked on the journey.

Some 14 flights have been scheduled to return the pilgrims from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia to Tamale in the Northern Region and Accra, the capital city.

The Director of Administration of the Ghana Hajj Taskforce, Alhaji Iddi Sumaila, confirmed the return date to the media.

“A total of 14 flights has been booked. Seven to Tamale and seven to Accra,” he said.

Unfortunately, some seven Ghanaians have lost their lives while embarking on Hajj this year.

The figure was far below the death toll of 17 recorded in the previous year’s hajj.

Embarking on the Hajj pilgrimage is a pillar of Islam that is to be fulfilled by Muslims who are capable in terms of wealth and health.
