Accra: The Ghana Hajj Taskforce will officially commence the airlifting of Hajj pilgrims from May 10, 2025, beginning with flights from Tamale in the Northern region to Madinah in Saudi Arabia.
The airlifting will be carried out in two phases where six flights would be deployed for pilgrims in Tamale and another six flights for the second batch of pilgrims stationed in Accra.
Airlifting in the first phase would end on Thursday, May 15, 2025, while the second phase is scheduled to start on Saturday, May 17, 2025, and end on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana, headed by the Ghana Hajj taskforce, posted the flight schedule via social media.
Ghana has a quota of 5000 pilgrims at this year’s Hajj, which tentatively begins on Wednesday, June 4, and ends on Monday, June 9.
Ghanaian pilgrims have paid a Hajj fare of GH¢62,000, an equivalent of $4,130 at an exchange rate of 15 cedis to a dollar.
This represented a 17.3 per cent reduction from the previous year’s fare of GH¢75,000.
