Hajj 2025: Airlifting of Hajj pilgrims in Tamale ends

Tamale: The Ghana Hajj Taskforce has successfully concluded the airlifting of Ghana’s hajj pilgrims from the northern part of the country from the Tamale airport.
The departure of a seventh flight on Thursday completed the first phase of the airlifting process that involved the deployment of seven flights to carry about 3000 pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The second phase of the exercise, which would take place at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, is expected to commence on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:15 am and end on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
The first batch of 425 Ghanaian Hajj pilgrims left the country on Saturday afternoon and arrived in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, at around 8 pm GMT, thus 11 pm local time.
They were welcomed by Ghana’s hajj officials, led by Consul-General of Ghana to Saudi Arabia, Dr Adam Abdul Rahman, at the Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport, Madinah.
The pilgrims were later ushered into their respective hotels around 2 am on Sunday, local time.
About 6200 pilgrims from Ghana are to embark on Hajj this year.
