Accra: The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana has indicated that the last batch of Ghanaian Hajj pilgrims will depart the country on May 19, 2026.

This was due to the deployment of an additional flight for Tuesday, May 19, extending the timeline of the exercise originally scheduled to end on Monday, May 18, 2026.

“The crux of the matter is that on each flight, instead of taking on board 433, we may end up cutting the number maybe to 400 or 410 and what have you.

“So the backlog would have to be pencilled down for the subsequent flights,” Mohammed Amin Lamptey, Head of Corporate Communications of the Pilgrims Affairs Office, has said in a video post.

He encouraged prospective pilgrims to stay calm as the office would airlift all those with valid visas for Hajj.

At the end of the first phase of the pilgrims’ airlifting, which began on May 1, 2026, at the Tamale International Airport, eight flights were deployed to airlift some 3,070 pilgrims in eight days.

The second phase began in Accra on May 10 with seven flights deployed as of May 17, 2026.

Over 6000 Ghanaian pilgrims will be airlifted to perform Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
