Ho Technical University management makes historic Ramadan outreach to Muslim students

Ho: The management of the Ho Technical University (HTU), led by its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, on Friday reached out to the university’s Muslim community.
The delegation visited the students’ makeshift mosque during Jummah prayers, marking a major boost in the university’s efforts to promote unity and diversity among its students and staff.
The outreach also sought to foster inclusivity and interfaith understanding.
According to Prof. Honyenuga, the engagement was the first for the university and demonstrated management’s commitment to embracing the growing Muslim student population and ensuring their needs were met.

“We recognise the importance of unity and inclusivity in our university community, and we are committed to supporting the Muslim community in any way we can,” Prof. Honyenuga said.
He assured the congregation of management’s support for the community, including the provision of a site for a permanent mosque.

The Vice-Chancellor also called for peace and unity among all members of the university community, noting that “we are one people, and we are all children of the same God.”
He wished the Muslim community well in the remaining days of Ramadan, expressing his hope that the fasting period would bring them closer to Allah and grant them peace, blessings, and forgiveness.

As a gesture of goodwill, management presented the Muslim community with packs of assorted drinks and water to support their fasting during the remaining days of Ramadan.

Abdul Majeed Ibrahim Halidu, President of the Ghana Muslim Students Union (GMSA), expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and his team for their kind gesture.
An assistant librarian, Hajia Hannatu Kugblenu-Mahama, and head of security, WOI (Rtd) Issifu Zakaria, both patrons of GMSA, highly appreciated management for the engagement and their thoughtfulness.

The Muslim community also presented the Vice-Chancellor and his team with traditional date fruits and offered a heartfelt recitation from the Holy Quran.
Other management staff present included the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Director of Finance, Dean of Students Affairs, Director of Public Affairs, and Acting Director of Internal Audit.
