University of Ghana Muslim community hold prayers for departed Muslim members

Accra: The University of Ghana Muslim community has held special remembrance prayers for its members who passed on during the academic year.
The solemn event held at the Legon Central Mosque was led by Imam Abubakari Baba.
He offered intercessory prayers for the departed souls by asking Allah to forgive them and grant them Jannatul Firdaus.
The Imam also expressed appreciation to the university for its continued support to the Muslim community and its efforts in promoting unity and inclusion on campus.
Present at the ceremony was Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, who reflected on the essence of humility and remembrance.

In her remarks, she noted that the occasion was meant to honour the memories of colleagues and students whose contributions and dreams remain part of the university’s story.
She extended sympathies to bereaved families and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to upholding the legacies of the departed.
The event formed part of activities marking the University’s 2024/2025 Christian and Muslim Remembrance Services, held annually to honour the memories of departed members of the University community.

The Vice-Chancellor, led by the resident Imam, inspected ongoing works for the University Mosque renovation project.
They expressed satisfaction with the level of progress and commended the contractor and project team for their dedication.
When completed, the new mosque will provide a modern and spacious place of worship to serve the growing Muslim community on campus.
Construction began in April this year.
