Accra: Five Ghanaian Muslims intending to perform Hajj in Saudi Arabia have been returned to their home country upon arrival in the Kingdom.

The “deportation” was due to administrative errors that occurred in the processing of their documents.

“In the process of realigning some of these visas, a few mistakes were committed, resulting in five of them having their visas cancelled,” said Alhaji ABA Fuseini, Head of Corporate Affairs for the Ghana Hajj Taskforce.

Of the five that were returned, Alhaji Fuseini said two were officials of the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana.

He said the Hajj taskforce is working assiduously to rectify the challenge to ensure that affected persons are reprocessed on time to join the last flight rescheduled to take of on May 28, 2025.

“I want to take this opportunity to apologise to them unreservedly for the inconvenience,” he said during a press briefing on Thursday.

He announced that the Ghana Hajj Taskforce has rescheduled the final Accra flight from Thursday, May 23, 2025, to Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

This was to allow for ample time for mopping up and ensuring due diligence in addressing discrepancies that have caused delays in the documentation process for would-be Hajj pilgrims.
