Hajj 2025: Ghana Hajj officials reschedule last flight to May 28

Accra: The airlift of Ghanaian Hajj pilgrims has been postponed as the Ghana Hajj Taskforce has rescheduled the final Accra flight from Thursday, May 23, 2025, to Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
This was to create ample time for mopping up and ensuring due diligence in addressing discrepancies that have caused delays in the documentation process for would-be Hajj pilgrims.
Alhaji A.B. A. Fuseini, Director in Charge of Corporate Affairs of the Ghana Hajj Taskforce made this known during a press briefing on Thursday.
“Some of our pilgrims, both paid and protocols, were left out on the issuance of visas. It is one of the most critical challenges that we faced.
“Ghana does not control the issuance of visas. The issuance of visas is the duty and prerogative under the authority of the embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” he said.
He observed that some Hajj agents, despite making timely payments, delayed the submission of their clients’ documents for processing, thereby causing the disruption in the timeline of activities.
He rendered an apology to persons who could not embark on the pilgrimage due to unforseen circumstances.
He said the Hajj officials are ready to offer immediate refunds to the about 50 affected persons who could not secure their visas on time.
“Our principal attention is that nobody should pay and be left behind,” he stated.
So far, thirteen flights have airlifted about 5,500 Ghanaian pilgrims to Madinah in Saudi Arabia.
The exercise started on May 10, 2025, at the Tamale Airport in the Northern Region of Ghana.
