Police Imam promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police
Accra: The National Imam of the Ghana Police Service, Chief Superintendent of Police, Imam Husein Abdur Rahim Husein, has been elevated to the rank of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
His promotion was part of an administrative requirement subject to fulfilling provisions in Regulation 37 of the Police Service Regulations 2012 (C.I. 76).
He is currently the Principal Imam of the Cantonment Police Mosque and also in charge of Islamic affairs in the Police Administration.
The administrator of the Cantonment Police Mosque, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yakubu Ibrahim, was also promoted to Superintendent of Police (SUPOL).
The Ghana Police Mosque announced via its Facebook platform on Saturday by saying, “With gratitude to Almighty Allah, the management and congregation of the Ghana Police Mosque celebrate the remarkable achievements of two distinguished members of our community.”
“These milestones, effective today, are a testament to their dedication and excellence,” it added.
In January last year, the Ghana Police Service promoted ACP Imam Husein from SUPOL to Chief Superintendent of Police.
He was promoted from the rank of DSP to SUPOL in January 2019.
Imam Husein holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Islamic and Arabic Studies from the Islamic University of Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Religion from the University of Ghana.
He also obtained a Master of Arts in Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
